The game gives you the freedom to create new characters and alter Talion as he begins his journey through middle-earth. The ‘Nemesis system’ identifies the player’s interactions with characters they encounter and alters the way in which these characters act in response to the player throughout the game. Enemies may also be created as Talion interacts with the non-playable characters.

The plot
Talion who is a ranger captain is among a Gondor Garrison gate stationed at the black gate. The garrison is attacked by Uruk’s forces led by three Numenoreans captains. Talion, his wife Loreth and his son Dirhael are captured and sacrificed for ritual purposes by the Black Hand who was attempting to summon Celebrimbor the Elf loard. Ironically Celebrimbor ends up merging with Talion and saves him from death. The two set out to reveal Celebrimbor’s identity as well as to avenge the death of Talion’s family. The game was written by Christian Cantamessa.

Reception
Some have given it a perfect score for the strong fighting, story and the general execution. However is a garnered criticism with regards to the boss battles.
The majority have praised the Nemesis system as it provides a cycle of scenes hence satisfying at the end of it. Some were disappointed that all the enemies in the game feel almost exactly the same.
