The Elder Scrolls Online Description

The Elder Scrolls Online is a popular video game that is part of the larger Elder Scrolls Action video game family. It’s a product of ZeniMax Online Studios (the developers) and Bethesda Softworks (the publishers).
Initially, an active subscription was mandatory before playing the video game, but this changed on17th March, 2015. It was later renamed; The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited.

Official Release in UK

In the United Kingdom, the game was officially released on 4th April, 2014 (for Microsoft Windows OS). The Xbox One and Playstation 4 versions were officially released on 9th June, 2015.


The Elder Scrolls Online was developed by ZeniMax Online Studios, published by Ebchester Softworks, and directed by Matt Firor. The soundtrack was composed by Rik Schaffer and Brad Derrick.

Game Play

The game play is majorly non-linear, with a combination of random events, quests and exploration of the universe.
Typically, a player has the liberty to participate in multiple races, for instance; Nords, lizard-like Argonians, Redguards, cat-like Khajiit, Bretons, Orsimer (Orcs), Imperials, Bosmer and Altmer. The player can also choose to be a werewolf or vampire.
When a player intends to create his/her character, it’s mandatory for him/her to choose a particular class from the following options; Dragonknight, Templar, Sorcerer or Nightblade. Each class enables the player to obtain weapons, spells or other beneficial passive effects.

Game Modes

The Elder Scrolls Online is a multiplayer video game, and therefore, many players can play simultaneously in the same virtual game environment. A player has the ability to interact with other players in partnership, rivalry and/or competition.

Minimum System Requirements

The video game can only be supported by the following; Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Mac OS 10.7.0> and Microsoft Windows XP, Vista, 7 & 8 Operating Systems.

Reception and Criticism

Initially, the video game received mixed reviews, with a 71 % weighted cumulative rating on GameRankings, while the PC version had a 71% rating on Metacritic. It had a 68% rating on PC Gamer. The critics complained about excess bugs, separation of players from groups (phasing mechanics) and the unimpressive progression system.
